Terms of Service

Last updated 11 September 2026

By using Alt. Ego you agree to these terms. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If you disagree with any of it, don't use the product.

1 · What Alt. Ego is

Alt. Ego is a self-development product. It asks you for birth details and for written reflections, computes an interpretation of your identity from them, and builds structured practice around that interpretation across three areas — Astra, Higher-Self and Brotherhood.

2 · What Alt. Ego is not

This is the most important section in this document. Alt. Ego delivers its results with confidence and in the second person. That is a deliberate stylistic choice, and it is not a claim of clinical authority.

Alt. Ego is not, and must not be relied on as:

The chart layer draws on astrological convention. It is included because it is part of the product's language and structure, and it is offered for reflection and entertainment — not as a statement of scientific fact. You should treat every output of this product as a prompt for your own thinking, and you remain responsible for what you decide to do.

3 · Your account

4 · Beta status

Alt. Ego is in active development. Features will change, move and sometimes disappear. It may be unavailable without warning. Your data is backed up, but this is early software and you should not treat it as the only place anything important to you lives.

5 · Acceptable use

Don't:

If you find a security problem, email security@alt-ego.org. We would much rather hear from you than not, and we won't pursue anyone who reports something in good faith and gives us a reasonable chance to fix it.

6 · Your content, and ours

What you write stays yours. You keep ownership of everything you submit. You grant us only the permission we need to operate the product for you — to store your content, process it (including via the AI provider named in our Privacy Policy), and show it back to you. That permission ends when you delete your account.

We will not publish your writing, use it in marketing, or show it to another user. If we ever want to quote something you wrote, we will ask you first.

Everything else — the software, the identity engine, the archetype and pathway systems, the written material, the name and the visual design — belongs to us and is not licensed to you beyond personal use of the product.

7 · Price

Alt. Ego is currently free. If we introduce paid features we will say so clearly in advance, and we will not silently start charging for something you already have.

8 · Ending it

You can stop at any time and ask us to delete your account — see the Privacy Policy for how. We may suspend an account that breaks section 5, and where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why first.

9 · Disclaimers and liability

Alt. Ego is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its interpretations of you will be accurate or useful.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make on the basis of anything the product tells you. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months — which, while the product is free, is nothing.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions. Where that is the case, they do not apply to you and nothing here removes a right you hold that cannot be waived.

10 · Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, and disputes will be handled by the courts located there — except where the law of your own country gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which these terms do not take away.

11 · Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the product after that means you accept the new version.
